Democrats Refuse To Condemn Burning American Flag

(RepublicanReport.org) – The conflict in the Middle East is having global repercussions. In the Gaza Strip, millions have been displaced and are now sheltering in Rafah, where Israel plans to invade next, despite opposition from the West. Across the United States, there are pro-Palestinian protests, and a recent event has sparked backlash — and silence, the latter from Democrats.

Pro-Palestinian Protest in New York

In New York, protestors gathered outside the Brooklyn Borough Hall in support of Palestine, but apparently at the expense of America. In a video that’s gone viral on X, formerly Twitter, with nearly 135,000 views, they can be seen burning an American flag while waving a Palestinian one. Some also reportedly chanted, “Death to America!”

The protests continued across New York City, including more on the Brooklyn Bridge, where they disrupted traffic. That event initially started as a planned protest on Wall Street, but it didn’t take long before marchers began heading toward the bridge. Police officers in riot gear tried to bring the situation under control.

Several hundred people also gathered outside Columbia University, occupying both the lawn and sidewalk, for more than 10 hours.

Police made several arrests, including that of a 14-year-old boy who was later released, after they violated the lawn curfew set by the college and used air horns, disturbing the peace.

Democrats Fail to Condemn Actions

When confronted with the reports of a flag-burning incident, Democrats chose silence over condemnation. Several prominent lawmakers, including Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Katie Porter (D-CA), and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) either refused to answer or said they were unaware of such incidents.

Ocasio-Cortez stumbled over her answer, saying she wasn’t “privy to” the reports and would “have to check for them” herself. One of Porter’s staffers kept interrupting a reporter, saying the representative had to get to another event. Pressley simply refused to acknowledge a reporter who asked her if she “support[ed] that type of protest,” including “burning the American flag and chanting Death to America.”

In an appearance on Fox News‘ “Fox & Friends,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) slammed the Left for failing to condemn the protests and went so far as to accuse them of wanting to appease the “pro-Hamas” faction. He said it’s “shameful” that they refuse to condemn the action, but “the silence that you hear from Washington” is the “most shameful.” Johnson made it clear that the US needs “to stand with Israel, unequivocally.”
