Trump Admin Official Shot in DC in Critical Condition

(RepublicanReport.org) – One would think the nation’s capital would be one of its safest cities. However, the Metropolitan Police Department for the District of Columbia (MPD-DC) recently reported that violent crime increased by 39% in 2023 year-on-year. Sadly, a former Trump administration is in critical condition after being shot within blocks of the White House.

On January 30, the MPD-DC issued a press release detailing a one-man crime spree that left one person dead and another hospitalized in critical condition.

The MPD-DC statement advised that the male suspect approached an occupied vehicle parked in the 900 block of K Street, NW, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on January 29. The suspect entered the vehicle, shot the driver, exited the car, and fled on foot. Media outlets later identified the injured person as Mike Gill, former President Donald Trump’s COO of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Then, the suspect unsuccessfully attempted to carjack a vehicle at the intersection of K Street, NE, and 5th Street at approximately 7:05 p.m. About ten minutes later, the suspect approached a couple standing beside their vehicle in the 300 block of N Street, NE. He demanded their keys, shot the male, and fled the scene in the victims’ automobile. The injured male was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

The MPD-DC reported that the suspect committed two more carjackings in Prince George’s County. Then, at about 3:00 a.m. the following day, he opened fire on a police cruiser while driving northbound on I-295. A round hit the squad car, but thankfully, the unnamed law enforcement official wasn’t injured.

Shortly afterward, an officer from the New Carrollton Police Department discharged his service weapon during an “interaction” with the suspect. Media outlets later reported that the officer shot and killed the suspect during that exchange.

The MPD-DC concluded its remarks by noting that officers and the department’s regional law enforcement partners were continuing their investigation into the incident.

The Daily Wire reported that a spokesperson for Gill’s family confirmed that he remained in critical condition in a written statement. He didn’t provide additional details “out of respect for the family.”
