(RepublicanReport.org) – House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has given Conservatives high hopes of impeachment plans against President Joe Biden, but he’s not rushing the process. He believes Congress has collected substantial evidence against the commander-in-chief and members of the First Family. But, the newly-elected speaker also feels that members of the investigating committee still have a few bases to cover before they can proceed.
Johnson sat down for an interview on the Monday, November 13 airing of “The Record With Greta Van Susteren.” He told the Newsmax host that he and his peers weren’t going to rush the process, which he felt Democrats wrongfully did when they moved to impeach Donald Trump during his presidency. The House speaker said the decision whether or not to impeach is one of the “heaviest powers that the House has,” second only to making a declaration of war. He stated that they have and will continue to sift through the evidence slowly and deliberately in order to ensure they reach the truth.
House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY) agrees that the evidence has been mounting. He claims the $20 million Biden’s family earned between 2014 and 2019 — much of which allegedly originated from questionable foreign sources like China and Ukraine — came as a direct result of “influence peddling” using the Biden name. Investigators are still searching through evidence, but they’re certain they’re close to finding solid proof that the president was actively involved.
Johnson has indicated that he supports going after Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, as well. The House speaker called the Biden administration member “one of the worst cabinet secretaries” in US history and said he shared in the American people’s desire to take action at the border and hold people like Mayorkas accountable for their bad policy decisions.
Johnson’s slow and careful approach might be working to appease centrists as much as it struggles to seek validation from the Left. Some Moderates had reportedly warned the speaker when he was still a designate that he would need an undeniable smoking gun to move forward with the case.
