President XI Says China Wants To Work Together With US

(RepublicanReport.org) – The meetings and festivities surrounding this year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) apparently made an impression on Chinese President Xi Jinping. He said he would like to cooperate with the United States moving forward, and executives from numerous US companies paid high prices to dine alongside him. Xi reportedly hoped to address the issues between the two countries in order to help turn around China’s economic slump.

Newsmax reports that almost 400 people attended the November 15 event, which occurred after lengthy talks earlier that day between Xi and US President Joe Biden. Guests included academics, government officials, and corporate leaders from companies including Apple, BlackRock, and Pfizer. The Chinese president spoke as an honored guest, receiving multiple standing ovations during the course of his presentation. He said he hoped to see a continued “trend of peaceful coexistence” between the two global superpowers and promised that no matter how far China was able to come, it wouldn’t seek to oppress or dominate others. Xi insisted that China didn’t want to be at war with anyone.

Daily Mail adds that the festivities included performances from No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani, who reportedly hugged Biden before he addressed the attendees. Other speakers included Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady Jill Biden, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), who welcomed the guests to the Golden State.

Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), who serves as the party’s chairman of the House’s select committee on China, is suspicious of anyone willing to pay thousands of dollars a ticket to attend that dinner. He denounced the genocide the communist nation has reportedly been committing against Muslim Uyghurs and demanded a thorough list of every person who was at the APEC event.

APEC works primarily to improve economic growth throughout the Asia-Pacific region through open trade, investment opportunities, and sustainable business plans. This year’s meeting took place in San Francisco, California.
