(RepublicanReport.org) – Current polling figures indicate only two ways to look at the Republican presidential primary elections. Number one: Donald Trump wins the GOP nomination. Number two: everyone else loses. Predictably, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his decision to end his campaign and endorse the former president on Sunday, January 21, winning him praise from many top Conservatives.
Trump discussed DeSantis’ departure from the race during a campaign rally in Rochester, New Hampshire, a few hours after the Florida governor’s announcement. He praised DeSantis and his wife, Casey, for “running a great campaign.”
Trump said he looked forward to working with DeSantis and other Conservatives to “defeat Crooked Joe Biden.” He also told supporters he planned on retiring his campaign trail nickname for the Florida governor — “DeSanctimonious.”

Other leading conservative voices followed suit and posted messages praising DeSantis. For example, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) posted a statement on his X/Twitter account expressing his pride at having the opportunity to work with “this patriot [and] his wonderful team.”
Likewise, conservative film actor James Wood posted a quick message echoing that sentiment. He also predicted that DeSantis’ departure from the race “by no means [marked] the end of this great patriot on the national [political] stage.” He also called on Republicans to unite to defeat President Joe Biden and “send the woke [liberal] grifters […] back to their rat’s [sic] nests.”
Kari Lake, US Senate candidate for Arizona, praised DeSantis’ campaign during a quick statement aired by Real America’s Voice. Lake said she supported Trump’s decision to retire the “DeSanctimonious” nickname and called for 2024 to be “the year to reunite the Republican Party.”

Conservative talk radio host Steve Gruber took a slightly different approach to the news. He commended DeSantis for dropping out of the race and endorsing Trump. He applauded the Florida governor for realizing that it was time for the GOP to “get on the same page,” focus their energy, and “consolidate power” to defeat Biden and his gang of “globalists.”
