(RepublicanReport.org) – A recent poll could be a warning to Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) that her spot in the House is in jeopardy. Even more worrying is the possibility that the Colorado representative might lose to a Democrat — especially given that Boebert opted to run outside her current district in order to compete in a more conservative part of the state.
The hypothetical poll, which Democratic hopeful Ike McCorkle shared on March 31 on X, formerly Twitter, estimates that he would have 7 points over Boebert if the two were to match up right now. He noted that the ultra-conservative was about 20 points ahead of her Republican rivals in the GOP primaries, making her the most likely candidate to run up against him in the upcoming general election.
Colorado will be holding two elections for the 4th district seat. A special election will fill the vacancy Rep. Ken Buck (R) left when he suddenly quit the position, ending with the close of this term. A regular election will determine who will take over from there and represent the district for the next two years. Boebert and McCorkle are vying for the two-year term. Republican Greg Lopez was chosen as the Republican nominee for the special election, which will take place on June 25. He will not be running for re-election in November.
Boebert’s time in office has been embroiled in scandal. She took slack in 2021 for implying liberal peer Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was a terrorist. She began having issues with her husband in 2022, leading to multiple publicized events that included her former spouse running over her mailbox and getting arrested in 2023 following an altercation between the two at a local restaurant. Earlier that year, Boebert was booted from a production of “Beetlejuice” after security personnel caught her being disruptive and vaping during the performance.
