Abbott Refuses To Back Down After Supreme Court Border Loss

(RepublicanReport.org) – The US Supreme Court sided against Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) in its decision on whether a stretch of razor wire should remain. The ruling, which many people view as a win for the Biden Administration, gives Border Patrol agents the go-ahead to cut through the barriers in order to access illegal border crossers outside their reach. Abbott insists the razor-wire fences act as an “effective deterrent” to migrants and need to be left intact, and he’s refusing to back down from the fight just yet.

Abbott’s loss is just one roadblock among many that the Texas governor has had to navigate in his quest to secure the state’s border territories. He’s long accused the Biden Administration of delivering policies that opened the floodgates on illegal migration in his jurisdiction. The Lone Star State leader finally took matters into his own hands in 2021, when he launched Operation Lone Star. He has vowed to use every available resource to improve security along his borders and reduce the burden Texas has faced since President Joe Biden took office.

The Supreme Court’s January 22, 5-4 decision ruled in the Biden Administration’s favor. Two conservative justices, Amy Coney Barrett and Chief Justice John Roberts, sided with their three liberal peers. A prior order, issued in December 2023 by a lower court, had sided with Abbott and prevented federal agents from destroying the razor wire.

Abbott has been battling White House officials for years over differences in policy and approach to US-Mexico border security in high-traffic areas, where record numbers of illegal crossers have made their way into the country. The Texas governor has resorted to numerous tactics in attempts both to shed light on the crisis and fix the problem himself, but Biden has been there at every step with his own agenda.

The Texas governor insists that the fight “is not over,” and he will continue fighting to protect his people from the threat — which he claims Biden helped create.
