A Leftist Network Of Websites Is Flooding Red States With Abortion Pills

(RepublicanReport.org) – Mifepristone is a drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), used alongside misoprostol to end pregnancies up to 10 weeks of gestation. Under FDA rules, the medication must be dispensed by or under the supervision of a certified prescriber or pharmacy and can be delivered in person or by mail. Recently, an investigation showed that anyone could access abortion drugs like mifepristone — sometimes without a prescription.

On March 27, The Daily Wire announced it uncovered a network of websites that supply the abortion pill through the mail without verifying the person’s age and with no prescription. The source stated there were dozens of sites shipping the drugs, reportedly manufactured in India, to anywhere in the United States — including states with abortion bans in place. At least one site reportedly states that if there are medical complications, the person should not tell the hospital they took the abortion meds.

If these pills are coming from outside the United States, the FDA made it clear that they are unregulated and can’t guarantee the medication’s safety. The administration stated it doesn’t have “oversight of prescription medicines from outside the legitimate US drug supply chain.”

One of the biggest organizations promoting the shipment of abortion medication to Red states is Plan C, which prides itself on getting around the abortion bans there. Group co-founder Elisa Wells previously told The Daily Beast that Plan C’s model is to help women “in the face of unjust laws.”

States like Tennessee and Texas restrict women’s access to abortion pills. In fact, the latter has a law on the books making it illegal to distribute abortion pills by mail. However, the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel stated in 2023 that the US Postal Service can deliver both mifepristone and misoprostol sent through the mail in all 50 states as long as postal requirements are met.
