(RepublicanReport.com) – The gradual shift toward remote work in the US accelerated in 2020 as people had no choice but to work from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This shift has had many unexpected benefits; however, it’s also exposed us to unforeseen risks. Many Americans learned to use the latest virtual meeting technology by Zoom to meet for business and pleasure.
On Friday, December 18, the Department of Justice released a report detailing the activities of a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) spy who was working for Zoom. Xinjiang Jin (39) was a senior security operative for the videoconferencing platform. It came to light that he was liaising with government officials in Beijing, relaying personal information about Zoom users who expressed anti-China views. He also allegedly helped to disrupt events commemorating the Tiananmen Square Massacre of 1989, a bloody act of oppression by the Chinese government.

This story is a good reminder of the severity of the threat from the CCP and its agenda. While Donald Trump has consistently been wary of its regime and taken major steps to break away from China, Joe Biden has attracted much criticism for his positive attitude toward the Communist country.
