Trump Lawyer Says Jack Smith Is Endangering American Legal System

( – On August 1, a grand jury in the US District Court for the District of Columbia charged former President Donald Trump with four felonies related to the 2020 presidential election. The four counts included conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. The legal action marks Trump’s third indictment this year.

On August 2, one of Trump’s attorneys, Jesse Binnall, appeared on “The Ben Shapiro Show” to discuss the former US leader’s latest indictment. He said Special Prosecutor Jack Smith was jeopardizing the “credibility of the American justice system” on the line with the latest charges against Trump. He indicated the matter would likely make its way to the Supreme Court. If the justices ruled in Trump’s favor, Democrats would fully delegitimize the entity — harming the United States. Ben Shapiro called the move by the grand jury and Smith a “super dangerous game.”

Binnall indicated that bringing a case like this in Washington, DC, would result in lopsided justice. He said that Department of Justice prosecutors and others in the area favor the “establishment” and wouldn’t likely bring a case like this against the “other side.” That means, Binnall believes, DC prosecutors and the DOJ would only target “Trump and his supporters.” The attorney indicated that no matter who wins in this case, America loses.

According to the indictment, the former president purposely created “widespread mistrust” by spreading “destabilizing lies,” which “targeted a bedrock function” of America. The legal brief also mentioned six co-conspirators who aided Trump in his alleged crimes. If found guilty of the latest charges against him, The Washington Post reported the former US leader could spend 55 years behind bars.

How do you think the public will look upon the courts after all the cases against Trump are over?
