Trump Has a 5-Point Plan To Defeat DeSantis

(RepublicanReport.org) – As of the beginning of March, there are five people officially running for president of the United States in 2024: four Republicans and one Democrat. So far, the frontrunner for the GOP seems to be former President Donald Trump, but it might not stay that way for long. Many believe Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) will soon throw his hat in the ring. But, apparently, Trump has a plan to stay on top.

On March 3, Axios founder Mike Allen appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” to talk about Trump’s supposed plan to derail the state leader’s potential campaign. He said the former US leader has a five-part scheme to “attack DeSantis” to ensure he keeps the Florida governor out of the running for the GOP nomination.

Allen said some reliable sources revealed Trump’s plan, which includes five areas to target. First, he said the former president will bring up DeSantis’ past record on wanting to change Medicare and Social Security. Then, he intends to point out how disloyal the governor has been, considering Trump played a role in seating the current Florida leader.

Oddly, the Axios head seems to think that the previous president will bring up DeSantis’ response to the events of the last three years, claiming his response to the pandemic wasn’t tough enough. Allen believes Trump will also hit the governor hard for supposedly waffling with regard to the US giving military support to Ukraine. Finally, the company founder said the former leader will try to paint DeSantis as former House Speaker Paul Ryan’s “lackey.”

The only response from DeSantis about recent slams from Trump was early in February when he made a general statement that he doesn’t use his time “trying to smear other Republicans.”

Looking at polls posted in February by Axios, Trump is leading DeSantis across several surveys by a significant margin. If the Florida governor decides to run, only time will tell if it stays that way.
