(RepublicanReport.com) – The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to many fierce policy debates. Even established public health professionals have made misleading or inaccurate submissions on the topic of how best to contain the viral spread while also keeping essential services running.
On Tuesday, March 16, former President Donald Trump appeared on Fox News Primetime with Maria Bartiromo. During his interview, he discussed Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx, and what he perceived as the shortcomings of their approach to the pandemic.
Saying the pair made “nothing but mistakes” when it came to giving him advice, Trump pointed out that they opposed him when he initially wanted to shut off travel from China at the pandemic’s outset. He also said he closed the border to highly-affected European countries “long before” either of the doctors recommended.
Trump aimed the same criticisms at Joe Biden, stating “he didn’t want to do it [for] months afterwards.” Given how the pandemic has since played out, it’s clear Trump’s restrictive border policy was the right approach. As he noted himself, however, he received “very little credit” from anyone.
