(RepublicanReport.com) – The crisis on our southern border is quickly becoming the defining challenge of Joe Biden’s first year as president. Despite the potential risk it carries in terms of the management of COVID-19, as well as the economic effects, the administration continues to take a soft approach to the thousands of migrants arriving at the border and seeking entry.
Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) highlighted this issue in an interview on Fox News on Saturday, March 6. He accused the federal government of “purposefully withholding” statistics around the release of migrants apprehended at the southern border. He said this may have become an issue during the Trump administration, but claimed Joe Biden had a duty to fix it as the current president.
Cuellar has warned that a real crisis at the southern border could be just days away if the current strategy continues.
Early reports indicate that February may have been the highest month for migrant detentions at the U.S.-Mexico border since 2019.

Nobody wants to see immigrants, especially children, put in detention centers or returned to bleak conditions at home. However, the Biden administration’s current approach could have worse consequences for both migrants and Americans.
