(RepublicanReport.com) – Liberal commentators and politicians have wasted no opportunity to sow the seeds of doubt and distrust since the protest at Washington’s Capitol Building on January 6. This has resulted in increasingly strict security measures in the lead-up to Wednesday’s inauguration. For example, it was revealed this week that all 25,000 members of the National Guard set to be deployed in Washington, DC will be subject to a vetting procedure.
Not everyone was happy about this. On Tuesday, January 19, Governor Greg Abbott denounced the vetting process with the following tweet.
This is the most offensive thing I've ever heard.
No one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard. @TexasGuard
I authorized more than 1,000 to go to DC.
I'll never do it again if they are disrespected like this.https://t.co/STZDMz7PGm

Abbott’s reference to the “loyalty [and] professionalism” of the National Guard is difficult to argue with. This is a branch of our military; it’s not as if just anyone can join its ranks.
The idea that this number of National Guard troops is necessary is, in itself, questionable. Making them undergo background checks is not only offensive, it’s also a massive drain on time and resources.
