(RepublicanReport.com) – With the strictness of security checks in airports nowadays, it’s rare that any real threat to safety arises. However, it does happen on occasion.
On Wednesday, December 16, one of the terminals of Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport in Alaska had to be evacuated due to a bomb threat. Reports say airport officials received word of a potential explosive device around 9:20 p.m. local time, and began directing passengers and employees to leave the building around 10 p.m.

The Anchorage Police Department deployed a team to the airport, and the Anchorage Bomb Squad had a robot that dealt with the situation. Authorities were in a position to confirm the area was secure around midnight, two hours after evacuation took place.
An unnamed individual was arrested for misconduct involving a controlled substance and terroristic threatening. No one suffered any injuries from the event.
Occurrences like these can be massively disruptive for travelers and transport officials alike. Unfortunately, there’s no option but to be as cautious as possible when a report like this one comes through.
