(RepublicanReport.org) – Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has been a thorn in the side of Dr. Anthony Fauci for some time. The nation’s leading infectious disease expert got into a heated exchange with the Kentucky senator last July, accusing Senator Paul of telling lies about the National Institutes of Health (NIH) ’s role in funding gain-of-function research in Wuhan. However, it’s possible Fauci wasn’t telling the whole truth about the subject.
On Tuesday, January 18, Senator Paul sent a letter to Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), who is chair of the Senate HELP Committee. The letter contained 11 yes/no questions for Fauci regarding whether American funds had ever gone toward executing gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
The first question inquired whether the NIH awarded a grant to an organization called EcoHealth Alliance to study bat coronaviruses. Subsequent questions ask about correspondences concerning the grant as well as a follow-up grant. The final question asked Fauci whether, if he responded “yes” to any of the preceding ten questions, he would be willing to “retract [his] previous false testimony” before the Senate HELP committee.
The American people deserve to know how this pandemic started, to know if the NIH funded dangerous gain-of-function research that may have caused this pandemic, and to remove from office anyone, such as Dr. Fauci, who let this happen. https://t.co/akFqLGVRPx

“Gain-of-function” is a term describing any research designed to make viruses more contagious or dangerous for the purposes of lab study.
Do Americans have a right to know, as Senator Paul says they do, whether US tax dollars went to Wuhan to fund this research?
