(RepublicanReport.org) – Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis has never made a secret of his opposition to the Biden administration. He has repeatedly resisted federal government mandates with vaccines and masks and has primarily refused such measures to take root in his state. Now, he’s setting his sights on Biden administration Attorney General Merrick Garland.
On Monday, October 4, AG Garland issued a memo to the director of the FBI and attorneys general at the state level regarding a “disturbing spike” in threats, harassment, and acts of intimidation against staff and board members in schools. In the memo, Garland sought to highlight the difference between “spirited debate,” which, he said, enjoys Constitutional protection, and threats of violence or intimidation. The memo encourages a more significant effort to prosecute individuals involved in those kinds of acts going forward.
But not everyone is convinced that Merrick Garland has the public’s best interests at heart. In a Twitter post, Gov. DeSantis responded to the memo by accusing the attorney general of “weaponizing the DOJ.” He also took the opportunity to assure his followers that Florida would not risk its citizens’ freedom by following the federal government’s lead on this matter.
Attorney General Garland is weaponizing the DOJ by using the FBI to pursue concerned parents and silence them through intimidation.
Florida will defend the free speech rights of its citizens and will not allow federal agents to squelch dissent.

Does Ron DeSantis have a point? Is Merrick Garland trying to impose on our freedom of expression?
