Republican Leaders Threatening to Leave GOP

( – Modern American politics is deeply divided. Democrats and Republicans are constantly at each other’s throats, with Congress often gridlocked due to partisan bickering. However, the rift between the two parties isn’t the only example of this; there’s plenty of division within the parties as well.

On Thursday, May 13, a group of more than 100 former Republican officials released a letter entitled “A Call for American Renewal.” In it, they denounce former President Donald Trump and his claims about election fraud. The letter threatens the creation of a third major political party if Republicans don’t abandon Trump and his ideas.

The group has been in existence since earlier this year. It first explored the option of creating a new party after the Capitol riot in January. Group organizer Miles Taylor, who served as Chief of Staff of the Department of Homeland Security under Trump, had the following to say about the situation via Twitter.

It doesn’t appear, however, that the core of the GOP is too concerned about this development. Trump spokesperson Jason Miller is quoted as saying “Those losers left the Republican Party when they voted for Joe Biden.”
