Reports: Mass Shooter Wore White Supremacist Symbol On His Clothing

(RepublicanReport.org) – America has a gun violence problem. Even in the last few months, the US has seen an increasing number of mass shootings. The most recent tragedy took place in a Texas shopping mall. Several reports indicate the shooter may have been a White Supremacist, citing a symbol found on their clothing.

Authorities have been slow to release details surrounding the recent shooting at Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Texas, on May 6. Information that has been made public indicates the shooter was 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia, a former security guard from Dallas, Texas.

The gunman wore a tactical vest and was armed with an AR-15-style weapon. He also had several guns in his vehicle. Police discovered a symbol on the shooter’s vest. The patch contained the acronym “RWDS,” which reportedly stands for “Right Wing Death Squad.” The acronym is commonly used among far-right groups such as the Proud Boys.

The gunman had received military training in the US Army, but the branch discharged the 33-year-old shortly after due to mental health issues, according to The Washington Post.

The massacre left seven people injured and another nine dead, including the shooter, who police fatally shot. Authorities have not released the names of the victims. They have been attempting to string together a motive for the attack. However, investigators did discover that the gunman posted several disturbing things to his social media accounts, often in the form of hateful rhetoric against Blacks, women, and other minority groups, according to the New York Times.

Authorities believe Garcia may have been a white supremacist but have yet to declare the mall shooting a domestic terrorist attack or a random act of horrific violence. Determining the motive behind the shooting may offer police insight into whether or not there is a larger threat to the public.
