(RepublicanReport.com) – The politicization of the Capitol riot on January 6 has been a consistent theme since the event took place. Democratic politicians have sought to exaggerate its seriousness and use it as a weapon against their conservative rivals.
One example is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) plan to launch an investigation into what happened. She wants to establish a 9/11-style probe into the riot; however, not everyone is convinced she’s doing it in the spirit of bipartisanship. On Wednesday, February 24, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) slated her plan, calling it “partisan by design.”

During his speech on the Senate floor, he noted his belief that the incident required a “serious and thorough review.” However, he pointed to the fact that seven of the people on the investigation committee would be selected by Democrats, and only four by Republicans. Therefore, he maintained, it was orchestrated to suit the Democrats’ agenda.
McConnell was willing to brave the scorn of his party colleagues for his views on Donald Trump’s role in the Capitol riot. Whatever you think about McConnell’s position, it’s clear he’s willing to stand behind his beliefs rather than toeing the party line. It would be refreshing to see the same from Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats.
