New York to Give Money to Illegal Immigrants

( – One of the most controversial aspects of contemporary liberal politics in America is the insistence on putting immigrants ahead of Americans. Despite the severe economic difficulties that have accompanied COVID-19, one of President Joe Biden’s top priorities since his inauguration has been to make life easier for foreign nationals entering America, legally or illegally. Many conservatives feel this has created a catastrophe on the southwest border and dragged much-needed resources away from other areas.

It’s not just the leaders in Washington, DC, either. This type of decision-making has taken root at the state level as well.

New York to Pay Undocumented Migrants

On Thursday, April 8, the New York Times reported on a new resolution that the New York state legislature passed earlier in the week. Under the terms of the law, undocumented migrants who were out of work during the pandemic could receive one-time payments of up to $15,600. This program is set to cost an estimated $2.1 billion, and may benefit as many as 300,000 people.

A Slap in the Face to Struggling New Yorkers

New York was the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in America when the virus first landed on our shores. It remains one of the worst-affected states in the country. The pandemic has caused tens of thousands of deaths in New York, and has also wrought economic devastation. Restaurants are still operating at 50% capacity, having been limited to less than this for extended periods of the past year.

Those employed in the service sector in New York, especially those who own their businesses, have been struggling like never before. In one of the most expensive areas in the country, many have gone without a steady income for over a year. In this context, the fact that the state’s leaders would devote such a significant portion of its financial resources toward illegal immigrants is mind-blowing.
