Multiple People Injured After Shooting at Uvalde Memorial Park

Shots FIRED – It’s Uvalde Again

( – Earlier this year, the Texas city of Uvalde sustained the second-worst school shooting in the nation’s history when a lone shooter entered Robb Elementary School and killed 19 children and two members of staff. Now, the city of Uvalde is in the news headlines again because of gun violence.

On Thursday, September 8, two teenagers were brought to a hospital in San Antonio with injuries from gunshot wounds. Police have reported that the shootings, which took place in Uvalde Memorial Park, were related to gang activity. However, the family of 16-year-old Jose Javier (JJ) Jimenez, who was shot in the head as well as the arm and ribs, says he was not a member of a criminal organization. Jimenez has been through surgery and remained in intensive care over the weekend.

A second victim, 18-year-old Bruce Brown, was also hospitalized following the shooting. Four suspects, ages 22, 18, 17, and 16, were taken into police custody following the incident. Brandon Alba (18) was hospitalized along with the two shooting victims and is reportedly facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and engaging in organized criminal activity.

This shooting comes just months after the Robb Elementary School shooting and has led to renewed calls for gun control measures from Uvalde residents.
