Most Americans Think Biden's Health Is Too Far Gone To Be President

(RepublicanReport.org) – With President Joe Biden’s recent announcement that he’s officially seeking a second term in 2024, many are speculating whether or not America could see a rematch of the 2020 general election. If Biden does face former President Donald Trump, who’s currently the top Republican candidate likely to win the party’s nomination, will the result be the same? It’s hard to say, but many think Biden’s health will play a major factor as the country inches closer to November 2024.

Critics of the president have often brought up his age and his potential to develop health issues. A recent poll from the Washington Post and ABC News found that Americans believe Trump is more mentally capable than the president.

While only 33% of respondents felt the former commander-in-chief was “honest and trustworthy,” compared to the 41% that felt the same about Biden, 54% believe Trump has the “mental sharpness” being America’s leader takes. Meanwhile, only 32% believe Biden has that same trait. The president fared a bit better when it comes to physical health, though not by much.

Biden saw a single percent increase in how people view his mental sharpness, with just 33% of respondents feeling that he’s physically capable of serving as president. However, in terms of physical health, 64% feel Trump is the better candidate.

Despite their closeness in age, Biden is 80, and Trump is 76, there was still a disparity between the two when it came to how Americans feel. While 43% of those polled said both candidates are too old to be president, 26% felt that sentiment applied only to Biden. Meanwhile, only 1% of respondents felt the same way about Trump.

People in both parties feel the time has come for fresh faces to lead the country. However, it seems Republicans are more content with Trump than Democrats appear to be with Biden, though they don’t seem to have many ideal alternatives as compared to Conservatives.
