(RepublicanReport.org) – British politics has been going through a period of turbulence lately following the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson amid a flurry of damaging scandals. Now, following a protracted voting process, Liz Truss has emerged as the new Conservative Party leader and has been elected the new prime minister.

The 47-year-old overcame Rishi Sunak to claim the election. Following his loss, he posted on Twitter thanking his voters for their support and encouraging everyone to “unite behind the new PM.”
Truss made a speech outside 10 Downing Street on Tuesday, September 6, after officially becoming the nation’s leader. During the address, she acknowledged Britain was facing huge challenges in the form of rising consumer costs, shrinking economic growth, and a steadily depreciating currency. However, she expressed her confidence Britons would be able to overcome these issues by working together.
The Right-wing leader also pledged to boost the country’s fortunes with a program of increased spending and tax cuts.
However, polls suggest she may be facing challenges in the near future. The Conservatives trail the Left-wing Labor Party by 10 points in polls, according to a recent report from The Wall Street Journal.
