(RepublicanReport.org) – One of the most controversial aspects of President Joe Biden’s time in the White House so far has been his approach to security on the southern border. He has insisted on drastically relaxing immigration rules and has not changed course despite enormous problems with undocumented migrant entries. Now, however, it looks as though he might finally be changing his mind about this strategy.
On Thursday, October 14, the Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed plans to reinstate the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy. Former President Donald Trump first introduced the rule. It requires asylum seekers to stay south of the US border until an American immigration court can hear their cases.
Finally they admit it – Trump’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy worked!https://t.co/ayLT2Cv1Rm

The reinstatement is not yet confirmed, as it requires approval from Mexico’s government. However, reports suggest officials there are cooperating with the DOJ’s effort to get the policy back up and running.
President Biden had paused the ‘Remain in Mexico policy,’ formally known as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), almost as soon as he took office. However, a federal judge ruled that Biden had to reinstate the order in August after the states of Texas and Missouri sued the administration.
While it looks as though the policy will go back into effect, the Biden administration may try to pick it apart again. Officials have indicated they may try to get rid of it in a way that won’t break the law.
