(RepublicanReport.com) – The international status of China is causing controversy both around the world and on the US political scene. While many leaders want to tiptoe around the communist giant by turning a blind eye to its abysmal record on human rights, others are determined to challenge China’s influence.
On Tuesday, April 13, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) led a group of 40 House Republicans in introducing the “No Taxpayer Funding for the United Nations Population Fund Act.” As the name suggests, the bill would prevent US money from going toward the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF). Their reasoning for this, according to a press release on Roy’s website, is that the program supports “China’s inhumane two-child policy” and the country’s “abusive population-control programs.”
Pleased to join my friend @RepChipRoy on this important piece of legislation. American taxpayer dollars should not fund overseas abortions. In addition, the UNFPA partners with the #CCP, which is actively waging genocide against the Uyghurs. https://t.co/1xjTa74DvT

This isn’t the first time the GOP has taken a stand against the United Nations Population Fund. In an effort to lead the charge against abortion around the world, former President Donald Trump cut $32.5 million from the fund in 2017. Biden plans to restore funding to the UNPF as part of his 2022 budget, making him complicit in China’s policy.
