(RepublicanReport.com) – Since its conclusion, the FBI investigation into Donald Trump’s alleged involvement in Russian interference in the 2016 election has become infamous. A large number of analysts now agree the operation was politically motivated.
On Sunday, December 20, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) floated the idea of a criminal referral in relation to the probe. His announcement followed the release of text messages from former FBI agent Peter Strzok earlier this month. These messages contained sensitive information that would’ve assisted Republicans in their investigation of the Russia probe. Despite this, they were not made available at the time of the initial investigation.

Nunes denounced this failure to cooperate, accusing the FBI of “lying and obstructing Congress.” He further claimed FBI agents had denied the existence of these text messages at the time of the investigation, despite being asked about them directly.
Clearly, this matter warrants a criminal investigation. If the FBI is allowed to tamper with the reputations of political figures for its own reasons, the potential threat to our democracy would be undeniably serious.
