DeSantis Shows Smut In Woke Children’s Books In Schools

(RepublicanReport.org) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) and California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) are about as polar opposites as any pair on the political stage. In August, DeSantis challenged Newsom to debate on television with Sean Hannity as moderator. The leader of the Golden State took up the challenge, and the head-to-head match took place in Alpharetta, Georgia, on November 30.

During the heated back and forth, Newsom and DeSantis addressed a number of pressing issues in the area of politics, including women’s rights, education, LGBTQ+ rights, immigration, the economy, and crime. While discussing education, the Florida governor pulled out a page containing graphic images from a book allegedly available in California schools. He called it “pornography,” said it was “aimed at children,” and that it was “wrong.”

DeSantis went on to say that books like that “trample on the rights of parents” to direct their kids’ education and what they are exposed to in schools. He said when the Left says other leaders are “banning books,” these are the types of books they’re talking about. Newsom immediately hit back, accusing DeSantis of going on a “banning binge,” racking up 1,406 banned books under his leadership. The Florida governor denied the accusation.

The California governor said the book DeSantis addressed was not part of the California curriculum. He also said sex education happens in middle school, not in elementary school, as indicated by the Florida leader. Further, Newsom said parents in his state are required to be involved in their kids’ education and “curriculum development.” He then bashed DeSantis for his treatment of the LGBTQ+ community, saying he didn’t like the way the presidential candidate treated people he doesn’t agree with.

According to Vox, Newsom agreed to the debate to defend his “record and vision,” while promoting President Joe Biden for re-election. As for DeSantis, his campaign needed a boost, and he wanted to show Republican voters he can “push GOP stances” on a national stage.
