(RepublicanReport.com) – The situation on our southern border has created rising tensions about overcrowded detention facilities and the treatment of unaccompanied minors. Another concern, however, is that the new influx of immigrants is making it more difficult to weed out the truly dangerous individuals attempting to make the crossing.
On Monday, April 5, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents apprehended a Mexican citizen who had previously been convicted of child rape. The 46-year-old had already entered the US when agents stationed in the El Centro sector in California arrested him. He was first convicted in California in 2007 and was removed from the country in 2014 after a term in prison. There are many similar instances that go unreported. Since Oct 1, the rate of sex offenders caught attempting to come into the US had already surpassed all of the previous fiscal year’s numbers.
This is just one story in a saga that continues to cause serious concerns. While mainstream media attention starts to focus elsewhere, federal agencies are quietly directing more and more of their resources from other parts of the country to the southwest border.
For example, you probably didn’t see that in recent days, US Customs and Border Protection moved agents from Maine and Florida to the southwest border.https://t.co/Oiq94b3BnS

This episode should serve as a reminder of the severe danger of an open border policy. While the CBP managed to detain this one individual, there’s no telling how many offenders like him have managed to make the journey and infiltrate successfully into America.
