Congress Certifies Reported Election Results Despite GOP Objections

(RepublicanReport.com) – The results of the presidential election of 2020 have been the cause of huge controversy for over two months. In the early hours of Thursday, January 7, both chambers of Congress confirmed Joe Biden as the winner.

A sizable cohort of Congressional Republicans supporting President Donald Trump including Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), objected unsuccessfully to individual state certifications. The motions were defeated ultimately by 92-7 in the Senate and 282-138 in the House.

Shortly after these results were announced, President Trump released a statement via the Twitter account of one of his aides, Dan Scavino. While reiterating his view that the election had been stolen, Trump committed to an “orderly transition” later this month.

With the scheduled presidential inauguration on January 20, it now appears certain that Joe Biden will be our next president. However, that doesn’t mean the issues surrounding the methods by which he won will simply be forgotten.
