Chinese Military Is Quietly Using Private Firms To Buy Weapon Technology
(RepublicanReport.org) – The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) remains the most potent overseas threat to the interests of the United States. Our superior military is a major protection for us in this respect; however, efforts by China to take possession of our combat technology dilute this defense. A new report from The Washington Post highlights a scheme by the totalitarian government to do just this.
Despite export controls put in place by American officials to prevent the practice, private firms with links to the Chinese military are buying up high-tech military solutions developed by US defense experts. The Post report referred to around 300 transactions of this nature that took place since 2019.
Some of the capabilities this scheme is targeting are filling critical gaps in Chinese technology, according to scientists working within a government-backed military research outfit in China. Aeronautical engineering software, which is much more advanced in the US than elsewhere, is among the key targets of the program.
Especially worrying is the fact many of the innovations bought under this program came into existence with the help of funding from the US taxpayer.
