Biden Accidentally Spills Secret Intelligence

(RepublicanReport.org) – In February, President Joe Biden ordered the US military to shoot down a Chinese spy balloon off the coast of South Carolina. Officials sent the Navy and Coast Guard to the wreckage site to retrieve the payload and balloon equipment for examination. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China quickly released a statement after the downing, accusing the US of overreacting to the innocuous device.

On June 20, Biden spoke at a campaign reception in California, where he briefly addressed the Chinese balloon incident, revealing some seemingly sensitive information. He said Chinese President Xi Jinping was “very upset” about the incident because he was unaware of where the craft was flying. The US leader said the lack of knowledge was an “embarrassment” for the dictator, using the harsh term bluntly.

Senior Fellow for Foreign Policy and National Security Lyle Morris said there were about 130 guests at the Kentfield campaign event.

The president went on to say that Xi contacted him to ask him not to reunite with India, Australia, and Japan because it was causing him problems. Biden assured the Chinese leader that unification was necessary to ensure every stick to international air and sea rules.

The New York Times reported that the president’s comments seemed unplanned, noting that other officials in the US were shocked by his words. One anonymous official said Biden’s revelation was part of a private assessment by the American government.

Although there was no evidence the president revealed secret information to his donors, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Insititute said Biden’s words would likely “frustrate” officials in China. Mao Ning, a Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman, blasted Biden for calling Xi a “dictator” and labeled his remarks “irresponsible.” Mao also said Biden’s words were politically provocative.
