(RepublicanReport.org) – Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) leans as far to the left as anyone in Washington, DC, particularly in terms of wealth distribution. This obviously puts him at odds with most Republicans, and it can also pit him against some Democrats from time to time.
During an Axios interview that aired on Sunday, May 9, Sanders strongly criticized leading Congressional Democrats who favor removing the cap on State and Local Tax deductions (SALT). These are deductions taxpayers can apply to their federal taxes in respect to income or property taxes paid at the local or state levels. Then-President Donald Trump imposed a cap of $10,000 on the deductions.
Senator Bernie Sanders told "Axios on HBO" he opposes the efforts by Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi to bring back SALT, the State and Local Tax deduction that disproportionately benefits wealthier residents of blue states. https://t.co/yhACsn0LJL

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) have stated their support for removing the cap. Both represent states with high tax rates.
There is wide disagreement about SALT deductions; even some Progressives think they make for a fairer system. That aside, it’s good to see senior Democrats called out for their power-seeking policies, especially by a fellow liberal.
