(RepublicanReport.org) – Ever since former President Donald Trump launched his 2024 presidential campaign, he’s talked about retribution and revenge if he makes it back into the White House. Those words have only escalated since he received multiple indictments and a felony conviction — things he believes are political attacks instead of justice served. Recently, one lawmaker talked about her possible future with Trump in the Oval Office.
On June 6, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) interview with Kara Swisher on the “On with Kara Swisher” podcast aired. Speaking about Trump, the NY rep said she “wouldn’t be surprised if this guy thew [her] in jail.” AOC said his “motto” during his first campaign was “lock her up,” and she believes what he says when he declares he will “round people up.”
The lawmaker added that the former president is “out of his mind” and feels that Trump’s first stint in the White House was just a small taste of what he would do if he won in November — and not in a good way.
The former president recently denied he would seek retribution from the Oval Office. Trump told Sean Hannity that he “would have every right to go after them,” but “it has to stop.” He said if it doesn’t, we won’t “have a country.”
However, those words don’t align with what Trump has said during other interviews. Just a few days after sitting down with Hannity, he talked to Newsmax, where he appeared to indicate he would imprison his political opponents — stoking AOC’s fears.
Trump claimed that Democrats were leading the US down a “terrible path…and it’s very possible that it’s going to have to happen to them.” He then pondered aloud whether the next president should do that. During his interview with Dr. Phil just after the Hannity interview aired, Trump said revenge “can be justified,” seemingly backing the AOC’s worries.
