60% Say Biden’s Mental Decline a ‘Threat’ to National Security

(RepublicanReport.org) – For months now, questions about President Joe Biden’s mental acuity have run rampant. Top Democrats pressured him to step down from the 2024 election and let someone younger have a chance at leading the nation. And though he did just that, for more than half the nation, that doesn’t seem to be enough. A recent poll showed just how concerned Americans are.

A recent poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports and the Heartland Institute, taken before Biden announced he was no longer running for a second term, revealed that 61% of voters believe Biden’s “mental decline poses a threat to the safety and security of the United States.” Of that 61%, 46% strongly agreed with the statement, while only 36% disagreed.

Among likely voters, 81% of Republicans and 39% of Democrats believe this statement, and 62% who do not affiliate with either party do, as well. The poll involved more than 8,000 participants, the majority of whom were likely voters in the six battleground states — Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, and Michigan.

Nearly half of the national participants, 49%, believe Biden “is one of the worst presidents in American history.” Yet, when you single out the battleground states, that figure jumps to 52%. The poll also questioned whether Biden’s policies were to blame for escalated prices at the pump and in the stores, with 40% of national voters and 47% in battleground states agreeing they were.

Biden’s rating suffered following his dismal showing at the debate versus former President Donald Trump on June 27 and his televised press conference in mid-July. He struggled to complete sentences and often looked dazed. He caved into pressure to step down and made the announcement on Sunday, July 21, shocking millions of Americans with his decision.

Vice President Kamala Harris is likely to be the nominee named at the Democratic National Convention next month. She has started campaigning, with her first rally in Wisconsin drawing in more people than expected.
